Economic and Environmental Forum
Held every year in Prague, the Forum is the main—and highest-level—annual event in the OSCE’s economic and environmental dimension.

Background
The Forum's history goes back to 30 January 1992, when the then-CSCE foreign ministers decided to establish an annual Economic Forum to sharpen the CSCECSCE
Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe’s focus on the development of free-market economies as an essential aspect of democracy-building. The Forum met for the first time in Prague in March 1993. In 2007, it was renamed the Economic and Environmental Forum, reflecting the growing importance of environmental security issues.
The Forum regularly brings together hundreds of representatives of participating States, Partners for Co-operation, the business community, academia and civil society. It serves as a platform for dialogue on current issues and formulates recommendations for follow-up activities to address economic and environmental security challenges. The discussions at the Forum inform the OSCE’s main decision-making bodies and contribute to the preparation of respective Ministerial Council decisions.
The Forum’s concluding meeting, which is preceded by two preparatory meetings, is held every year in September in Prague. The respective year’s Chairpersonship proposes the Forum’s theme, which is approved by the OSCE participating States.
