An illustrated guide of the ESPOO Convention and its Protocol in a cartoon format

The OSCE supports the implementation of the UNECE Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention) and its Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA Protocol) through joint capacity building activities in close collaboration with the UNECE Secretariat, and also through the role that the OSCE-supported Aarhus Centres can play in promoting public participation under environmental assessment procedures.

Furthermore, the OSCE is promoting the implementation of the SEA Protocol in Central Asia through the extra-budgetary project “Strengthening National and Regional Capacities and Co-operation on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in Central Asia, including as a response to Climate Change” (more information about the project here). This set of drawings in a cartoon style (in English, Russian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tajik and Turkmen languages) aims to illustrate the spirit of the Convention and its role in protecting the environment and promoting international cooperation.
